If you’re interested in the public car auction – then you are not alone. The reasons they have become so popular is because you can get quality cars, you can name your own price,  most of the vehicles at the public car auction sell well below the book price, and best of all, many of the donated cars have no minimum.

Generally at car auctions, there is different phases that take place at the auctions, we will briefly discuss the phases to hopefully give you a better understanding of how the car auction works.

Preview time

At this phase in the auction, you go through the inspection and test driving of the vehicles what are being put up for auction, the cars that you can bid on if you are interested. If you don’t know a great deal about cars, we suggest you take someone with you who does, failing that, we suggest you learn as much as possible on cars, even knowing just the basics can help you close a bargain deal on a top of the range car.

If you do want to test drive a vehicle, be sure to bring your license with you, go to the reception desk, ask for the keys, and away you go. Having a test drive is an important part to the car auction process, especially if you want to test how a specific car drives and whether it is suitable for you and your own comforts. If you plan on selling the car on, then it still a valuable process we recommend taking part in.

Bidding

This is where the fun begins; each car will be driven through the building. Then the auctioneer will say something like who will get me $500 to start, and away it starts, the bidding begins. If you put a bid in and win, the vehicle is now yours, congratulations, you have just won your first car at an auction!

Payment

Once you have won the car, present your auction ticket with the ticket number to the reception, normally, you pay with visa or debit card. The balance is normally due the next following day.

Check out

Once you have paid in full, you will be given the keys, the cars normally have to leave the building by the end of the day. You can drive off knowing that you have won your first car at an auction, and it is probably a bargain from the public car auction.
